Fix common X video download problems
Troubleshoot rejected post links, missing video versions, connection errors, and files that open instead of downloading.
“Paste a valid X or Twitter post URL”
Make sure you copied the address of an individual post, not an account profile, search page, image, or direct MP4 file. The URL should start with https://x.com/ or https://twitter.com/ and include /status/ followed by a numeric post ID. Copy the link again from the Share menu if the address looks shortened or incomplete.
The post cannot be read or has no MP4 video
First open the original post in a normal browser tab. If it is deleted, private, region-restricted, or requires an account that the lookup service cannot use, XSave cannot produce a public download page. An image-only post also has no video version to list.
The current page format handles one video per post. If a post contains multiple videos, the site stops with a clear message so it does not silently show only the first clip. There is no benefit in repeatedly submitting the same unsupported post.
“We could not read that post right now”
The lookup is requested directly by your browser from a third-party public API. A network interruption, temporary service error, content blocker, or a changed cross-origin policy can prevent that request from completing. Check your connection, disable a blocker only if you trust the site and understand the effect, then try once more after a short pause.
If you already have a saved XSave download-page link for the post, open that page directly. It reads the previously saved versions from the site database and does not need a fresh lookup just to display them.
The file opens in a tab instead of saving
Browsers do not handle cross-site video links identically. When the source file opens in a new tab, look for the video player menu, a download icon, or your browser’s Save video option. On a phone, the option may be under the Share menu or the long-press menu. Avoid assuming that pressing Download always places a file in the same folder on every device.
A saved download page stopped working
XSave stores the metadata and file addresses returned at the time the page was created; it does not permanently store the video. If the source network changes or removes a file, an old address may fail. Check whether the original post still plays and whether another listed resolution works. For a persistent problem, use the contact page and include the XSave page URL and the affected resolution.
